Dr. James Hedrick
Dr. Hedrick obtained his BS in Engineering Nuclear Physics from University of Chicago and then went on to complete his medical degree from Pritzer School of Medicine in Chicago. He completed his pediatric residency at the University of Kentucky. He is a board certified pediatrician. Dr. Hedrick started Physicians to Children in 1977. Dr. Hedrick is married to Dr. Janice Lantz. He has two daughters Dr. Rebecca Hedrick who is a Psychiatrist at Cedar Sinai in California, and Sarah Hedrick who is a graphic designer. He has one granddaughter, Morgan. Dr. Hedrick and his wife Jan love to travel and have been to 50+ Countries.
Monica Strenecky, APRN
Monica is originally from Bardstown, KY. She attended the University of Louisville where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelors of Arts in Biology in 2003, and a Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2006. Monica was a certified pediatric nurse at Kosair Children’s Hospital for 7 years before returning to the University of Louisville to complete a Masters of Science in Nursing. Monica became a certified Family Nurse Practitioner in 2013. She practiced family medicine in Lebanon, KY for 5 years before joining Physicians to Children & Adolescents in 2018. Monica and her husband, Linwood, reside in Bardstown with their 3 children, Lawson, Boone, and Sloane
Leslie Brauner, DNP
Leslie is originally from Louisville, KY and an alumnus of duPont Manual High School. She attends the University of Louisville where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2010. She received her Master of Science in Nursing with specialty in Pyschiatric/Mental Health Nursing from the University of Louisville in 2012. In 2015, she graduated with her Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree from Eastern Kentucky University. Leslie joined Physicians to Children and Adolescents in 2015 and her focus is in pediatric psychiatry. She is married and has two children, Carson and Carly.
Dr. Stan Block
Dr. Block attended medical school at the University of Kentucky and completed his pediatric residency at Wake Forest University. He is a board certified pediatrician and has been re-certified by the AAP. Dr. Block is a nationally recognized speaker in infectious diseases, vaccines, general pediatrics & ADHD. When he is not seeing patients he enjoys being a reviewer, writer, and editorial board: Pediatric Annuals and Infectious Diseases in Children. He is also a reviewer for the CDC/NIH federal vaccine grants. Dr. Block has received numerous national awards including 1998 Researcher of the year and in 2004 he was honored as UK Distinguished Alumnus Award. He has authored or co-authored 140+ peer reviewed medical articles, including vital vaccines. Perhaps most special, he was locally voted Best Pediatrician 2010-2014 by the Bardstown Community.
Dr. Block and his wife Melinda reside in Bardstown. They have 4 daughters and 7 grandchildren.
Dr. Ronald Tyler
Dr. Tyler graduated from Bullitt Central High School in Shepherdsville, KY . He obtained his Bachelors of Science in Chemistry and Biology at Kentucky Wesleyan College. He attended Medical School at the University of Louisville, and his residency at Kosair Children’s Hospital through the University of Louisville. He joined Physicians to Children and Adolescents in 1987. Dr. Tyler and his wife have two charming sons, Wesley and Daniel and one grandson.
Dr. Robert A. Smith
Dr. Smith is originally from Bardstown but when he was 10 years old he and his parents moved to Rhodesia, Africa. Dr. Smith’s father, Dr. Jerry Smith became a medical missionary after leaving his dental practice in Bardstown. While in Africa, Dr. Smith attended the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Dr. Smith returned to Louisville, KY at the age of 21 to attend the University of Louisville medical school, where he also completed his residency and became a board certified pediatrician. After medical school, Dr. Smith practiced pediatric medicine in Shelbyville for 8 years until joining Physicians to Children in 1990. He has been medical director for the Nelson County EMS since 1991 and was instrumental in initiating Advanced Life Support in Nelson County. Dr. Smith and his wife Karen have lived in Bardstown since 1990 and have 4 children, Amie, Brent, Ryan, and Lauren. Brent and Ryan still live in the community. When he is not working at the office, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time in the great outdoors. He is an avid fisherman and enjoys hunting water fowl.
Dr. Daniel Finn
Dr. Finn grew up in south Louisville near Iroquois Park. He is a 1986 graduate of DeSales High School. Dr. Finn went on to further his education and graduated from Centre College in 1990 and the University Of Louisville School Of Medicine in 1998. He then completed his pediatric residency at the University of Louisville and Kosair Children’s Hospitals from 1998-2001. Dr. Finn is a board certified pediatrician and joined Physicians to Children and Adolescents in 2001 after completing his residency. Dr. Finn and his wife Ellen married in 1991 and have 4 beautiful daughters. Their older Nettie attends DePauw University, followed by Maggie who attends Centre College, and the two youngest Sally Ann and Ellie who attend Bardstown High School. Dr. Finn enjoys going to concerts where his daughters perform on the piano and various string instruments. He also enjoys attending various sporting events and is a member of Bardstown United Methodist Church. Dr. Finn also finds time to participate in various roles with the Kentucky chapter of the AAP. He is the co-chair of Summer Continuing Medical Education Conference and the current editor of the chapter’s newsletter. In the past he has held positions as their secretary and treasurer.
Dr. Rebecca Findlay
Dr. Findlay is originally from Illinois where she attended the University of Illinois and earned her Bachelor’s of Science. She then went on to attend South Illinois School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Findlay is a board certified pediatrician and joined Physicians to Children in 1997. Dr. Findlay enjoys spending time on her farm, whether it’s fishing at the lake or horseback riding.
Dr. Lindsay Blackmon
Dr. Blackmon is originally from Bardstown, where she attended and graduated from Bardstown High School. She went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude at the University of Kentucky and then graduated with honors from the University Of Kentucky College Of Medicine. Dr. Blackmon was an active member of AOA at the University of Kentucky. She completed her pediatric residency at the Kentucky Children’s Hospital and became a board certified pediatrician in 2013. Dr. Blackmon moved back home to Bardstown after a 10 year hiatus completing her education in Lexington, KY. She joined Physicians to Children and Adolescents in 2013 and she enjoys the privilege of practicing pediatrics alongside her father, Dr. Stan Block. Dr. Blackmon resides with her husband, and two daughters Lydia and Charlotte.
Christal is originally from Bardstown, KY . She attended the University of Kentucky and received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in 2003. She received her Master’s Degree at Indiana Wesleyan University in 2008 and received her FNP. Christal joined Physicians to Children and Adolescents in December of 2008. She enjoys sporting events and spending time with family.
Kali obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisville in 2006 and her Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Kentucky in 2009. Kali returned to her hometown of Bardstown in 2009 when she joined Physicians to Children and Adolescents. Kali is married to Brandon Lewis and they have two beautiful daughters, Tatum and Hattie. In her spare time Kali enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, snow skiing, and reading.
